PAs rotate through each location, experiencing a wide variety of specimens and complexities. At Banner Gateway hospital, you'll encounter a high volume of breast, GI, and head and neck specimens. Banner Desert offers a diverse specimen range, including bone and soft tissue tumors, occasional Wilms' tumors, and other pediatric cases.

JOB SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of a pathologist, independently performs or assists in the dissection, description, and histologic sampling of a full range of surgical specimens.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs and/or assists pathologists in the dissection, description, and histologic sampling of a full range of anatomical specimens.
- Performs frozen sections and other intra-operative consultations, within the established protocol and procedural parameters.
- Coordinates the acquisition of tissue specimens used for research purposes.
- Performs specimen photography as needed.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
- Must understand and be able to adhere to biohazardous specimen handling requirements.
- Must undergo blood-borne pathogens and hazardous waste training.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited Pathologist Assistant program or in a medical or scientific field.
- At least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. (Preferred)
- ASCP-certified (Preferred)
- Ability to self-direct.
